About Us

Four Way Kennels began its life in October 2002 when it won the New Business of the Year award & thanks to founding owners Steve & Leonie Driver’s business acumen, it has developed into one of the Bundaberg region’s premier dog boarding facilities.

Over its +20-year life, FWK has left its mark with its beautifully manicured gardens, meticulous cleanliness & hygiene and excellent customer rapport which has resulted in a strongly loyal local customer base. Twenty years after being founded, Steve & Leonie kindly handed over ownership of FWK to new owners Melissa & Warrick Boyle who migrated from near Ballarat in Victoria in October 2022. Melissa & Warrick’s profiles are available below. “I immediately saw the significant potential Four Way Kennels presented” Warrick said after paying the facility two quick-fire visits back in 2022. “It was too good an opportunity to pass up. In the year we’ve had the facility we’ve used so many of our previously developed skill-sets to create what we call Four Way Kennels 2.0” Melissa outlines.

Using their significant project management experience, the following projects & facility upgrades have resulted –

  • Kennel Epoxy Flooring & Painting upgrade.
  • 6 Bay External Kennel run upgrade.
  • Hydrotherapy Facility (implementation in process).
  • Kennel Lighting system upgrade.
  • Computer System upgrade.
  • Website upgrade.

Melissa & Warrick have found it richly rewarding to see the benefits that the implementation of these projects have provided to their clientele, and with such positive responses, they have committed to continue to invest heavily into the facility to continually upgrade the business as they recognise that it is an important community service.
“We’ve deliberately chosen to not have children, rather we’ve made a conscious decision to dedicate ourselves to the care of our, and our clients’ dogs – and we couldn’t be happier”. Warrick says.

At FWK, we encourage you to do your homework. Make sure you understand your options by making the effort to visit available boarding facilities yourselves in person. We pride ourselves on the appearance of our facilities and our warm, hospitable and down to earth open-door approach which puts our clients at ease. Our opening hours are amongst the most generous going around so please feel free to drop in for a facility tour at any time.

Our Team

The ongoing success of Four Way Kennels can be directly attributed to its personnel.

The professional profiles of the FWK staff listed below reveal an extremely diverse spectrum of skills that are allowing FWK 2.0 to come into being.

Melissa & Warrick Boyle

Having a diverse set of commercial industry experience & university level certifications along with a deep understanding of a broad spectrum of animal species has allowed Melissa & Warrick to hit the ground running as the new owners of Four Way Kennels.

Customer service comes naturally to Melissa after more than a decade of business administration & front-line customer-based roles as it does to Warrick after +20 years in senior management in various manufacturing sectors and running businesses of his own.

In particular, their experience as a ANKC certified breeder of Tibetan Mastiffs has stood them in good stead during the transition to kennel owners.

“Owning a kennel business was a natural progression for us post the end of our TM breeding & after decades of running businesses for others. We have learnt plenty about what to do as well as what not to do & we thought it was time we started doing it for ourselves in our own way. The feedback we’re getting is very positive and well received & we are driven to pursue this course.”

Kerry Power

Kerry Power has been employed at Four Way Kennels for over eight years. She is an integral part of the Four Way Kennels team and performs many duties as part of the day-to-day operations from feeding, cleaning, administering medications, bookings and making sure our guests are cared for in the nicest way possible.

For Kerry, the saying ‘life is better with a dog’ definitely holds true. Throughout most of her life she has always enjoyed the love and companionship of our furry friends. Dogs are not the only creatures Kerry has a soft spot for, over the years there have been a myriad of farm animals from horses and cattle to sheep and chickens. For many years prior to relocating to the Sunshine State, Kerry was involved in wildlife rehabilitation and worked at an off-site wildlife rehabilitation facility attached to Potaroo Palace (previously Yellow Pinch Wildlife Park) in south-eastern New South Wales. She has worked with a variety of wildlife species including reptiles, birds of prey and marsupials.

To say Kerry is an animal lover is an understatement, her dedication to the wellbeing of our furry guests is always her highest priority and we are privileged to have her as part of the Four Ways Kennels team.  Whilst she may not remember the name of the owners from time to time, she always remembers the name of their dog and it is wonderful to observe the reunion between Kerry and our furry guests on the arrival of many of our return visitors.
